about

Over The Hill Music Collective (OTH) is proud to release its first single on Monday 1st March. Members have been working on this track over several months through the restrictions of lockdown and the track reflects feelings around that. It is a collaboration of members of the Collective.

Director and founding member of OTH Paul Kane says ‘Like all of us this has been a challenging time, not only for trying to physically record music but to get the motivation to write something in the first place. We’ve had no choice but to work remotely, apart from recording drums in a studio, abiding by strict protocols and health assessments. Yet this has been incredible too, we had a lot of positive response to the collaboration process with some of the vocals and spoken word recorded on mobile phones ’.

The Single is a taster for the upcoming OTH album called ‘Isobars’ which will be released later on in the year. The album focuses on mental health issues for older people, which the Collective hope will help people articulate some of the personal issues they deal with on a daily basis. This will be the Collective’s 4th album. Its previous work ‘Kodachrome’ received very positive reviews and substantial radio play on BBC Radio Ulster and Belfast 89FM.

Producer and Musician with the Collective Chip Bailey says ‘Wobble was a working title for the song due to the tremolo guitars, but it soon became clear that ‘Wobble’ was a perfect description of where we were at. Originally we had planned to gather members together in the studio to collaborate, but when that was obviously not possible members contributed lyrics, ideas, vocals, instruments (remotely) and I was able to record and put together all the bits in my home studio. Phil d’Alton lent his expertise to the mix (remotely) and Jon Moorhead lent his ears to mastering (remotely). We like the outcome! (remotely)’
